Landis+Gyr smart meters to bring benefit to French industrial and commercial consumers
The French national electricity distributor, Enedis has chosen Landis+Gyr as preferred supplier
Zug, Switzerland, 7th June, 2016 – Landis+Gyr, global provider of energy management solutions, will contribute to a key smart metering project in France: Enedis, previously Électricité Réseau Distribution France (ERDF), has chosen Landis+Gyr to supply smart electricity meters as part of a project to renew all of its meter parks for small to mid-sized industrial and commercial customers across the country.
Commencing at the beginning of June 2016, Landis+Gyr will produce 80,000 smart electricity meters for Enedis at its Montluçon site in France. The contract is an extension of an existing project signed in 2012; this second order is due to run until June 2018.
“We are delighted to be the preferred supplier for this project” says Christian Huguet, Country Manager Landis+Gyr France, “By the end of the roll out, Enedis will have completely updated its existing meter park. The park will then be suitable for all major commercial and industrial applications.”
The three-phase direct voltage meters are specifically designed for use in all major commercial and industrial applications by small and medium-sized Enedis customers. They are an adaptation of a Landis+Gyr smart electricity meter for the French market and each contain a current transformer, which is required by end-consumers in the lower voltage bracket. Enedis customers that will benefit from the new technology have annual consumption levels that fall into the lower voltage range of between 36 and 250 kilo volt amperes, kVA, which is a measure of subscribed power.
Enedis manages the electrical distribution network for 95% of France. The company ensures the operation, development and maintenance of 1,265,500 km of power lines serving 35 million customers across the country.
