Landis+Gyr – TREFOR: 15-Year Partnership to Modernise Water and Thermal Energy Smart Metering Infrastructure in Denmark
Sorø, Denmark, 25. November 2024 – Landis+Gyr (SIX: LAND), a global leader in integrated energy management solutions, has signed a comprehensive 15-year agreement with TREFOR Infrastruktur A/S, TREFOR Vand A/S, and TREFOR Varme A/S to deliver, implement, and support a new generation of smart meters and digital infrastructure across TREFOR’s service areas. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in Denmark’s ongoing transition towards a more efficient, data-driven utility landscape.
The project, titled “Delivery, Implementation, Operation, Support, and Maintenance of New Meter Park,” will see Landis+Gyr deploying advanced water and heat (thermal) meters, utilising the latest point to point (P2P) NB-IoT communication technology for seamless data transmission and enhanced connectivity. The agreement scope additionally includes the rollout of Emerge, a robust cloud-based SaaS head-end system (HES) as part of a turnkey solution, designed to streamline operations and improve service reliability. The phased implementation will commence in early 2025, with a pilot phase and initial deployments set for completion by late 2026, leading to full deployment by the end of 2027.
This new agreement builds on a long-standing partnership between Landis+Gyr and TREFOR that began in 2007, when TREFOR first adopted Landis+Gyr’s comprehensive metering solutions as first mover in DK with 2G/GPRS point to point (P2P) collecting Water & Heat data via the E-Meter. Over the years, TREFOR’s existing metering park relied on Landis+Gyr’s technology, including more than 110,000 electric meters, 22,000 water meters, and 8,000 heat (thermal) meters. The continued collaboration highlights TREFOR’s confidence in Landis+Gyr’s expertise and commitment to delivering innovative and reliable solutions.
As one of the early adopters of smart metering technology, Denmark has set ambitious goals for digitalizing its utility infrastructure to enhance sustainability and operational efficiency understanding the value of data and not only consumption data. Through this collaboration, Landis+Gyr, will deliver TREFOR a comprehensive suite of advanced metering and data management solutions, integrating hardware, cloud-based services, and ongoing customer support. The new meter park will empower TREFOR to gain deeper insights, optimise resource management, and provide enhanced service to its customers, paving the way for future grid flexibility and advanced energy services.
