Landis+Gyr Unveils Five-Year Smart Meter Deal with AEP T
New York, NY, USA – Landis+Gyr, the global leader in energy management and next generation smart grid solutions for utilities, today announced a five-year advanced metering contract with AEP Texas, a unit of American Electric Power (NYSE:AEP), one of the largest electric utilities in the United States.
Under terms of the agreement, Corpus Christi-based AEP Texas will deploy Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream™ advanced metering solution across the utility’s Texas service territory. The Gridstream network will provide two-way communication to 700,000 metering endpoints and enable more than two million Texas consumers and businesses to better manage their use of electricity.
This advanced metering infrastructure deployment includes a two-way network and features an advanced digital meter with load limiting and remote service capability, along with connectivity to home area network devices. This will allow AEP Texas to send energy consumption information and real-time pricing signals to consumers as well as provide automated load management options.

In recent months, Landis+Gyr has unveiled a number of large-scale contracts with utilities. In the U.S., Landis+Gyr has recently announced major deals with Texas utility Oncor, Washington D.C.-based Pepco Holdings and California utility Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
