More than a Gateway
Landis+Gyr’s Network Gateway is a powerful mini field data center. It is equipped with four standard mPCIe slots for multiple communications technology tiers, to support Landis+Gyr’s Wi-SUN certified RF Mesh IPv6 standards-based network, or others such as cellular or ethernet (e.g. LTE, WiMAX, WiFi etc.). This device allows Landis+Gyr to design and deploy the Network Gateway with multiple configurations to meet field-area-network (FAN) communications requirements in the most cost effective manner over the customer’s entire service territory. Enabling flexible configuration options to support interoperability of edge devices is foundational to our communications platform.
The Network Gateway can be a collector or router. Its powerful on-board Linux processor can be leveraged for edge intelligent “Internet-of-Things” applications for utilities or municipalities. The Network Gateway is available in different installation options, on the poles, or in electrical rooms.
A future-ready foundation for an intelligent network
The modularity offered by the Network Gateway allows for a field retrofit to expand communications coverage capabilities for future requirements, as necessary. Overall, Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream Connect is designed to support current applications and future use cases to integrate distribution automation equipment, streetlight control, distributed generation, energy storage and smart city sensing systems towards making the grid more operationally efficient and secure.
